We are a specialist schoolwear supplier, providing an excellent, value for money service to more then 2,500 primary and secondary schools across the UK. Our customers like us so much that together they spend £15 million a year with us, which makes us the UK’s largest independent schoolwear retailer ~ but what’s most important to us are satisfied customers. That means schools, parents and the pupils themselves. We also have retail businesses in menswear, formal hirewear and jeanswear, but our core business is with schools.





First and foremost we’re a family business. The founder was the late John Cheatle, who began selling schoolwear in 1937 in the Midlands, and today’s Managing Director, Justin Cheatle, is his grandson. You’ll remember if you’ve met Justin ~ he’s like a whirlwind! And there’s a terrific team working across the Group too, with around 500 people totally dedicated to making your purchase of schoolwear as easy as…well, as easy as ABC! We have grown steadily over the years by providing excellent products at value-for-money prices with great service as a matter of course. We have also acquired a number of dedicated schoolwear businesses, including, in December 2004, Rawcliffes Limited, the schoolwear retailer that specialises in school shops and retail outlets across the North of England. In addition to our Schoolwear Centres across the East and West Midlands, we also own well-known school specialist outlets such as Buxton & Bonnett, Cliffs of Doncaster, Ellis of Burton, Morleys, and D & P of Nottingham. Our Head Office is in Leicester.
